Shiyenze Khasoha is a Kenyan born and bred designer. As with all other prominent visionaries of the world, her acumen and skill in the crafts was conspicuous from a tender age. Through apprenticeship, her ebullience for the arts was consummately honed and cemented. This formed her decision to launch a fashion label in Kenya. The dream first took the form of an accessories store in downtown Nairobi in 2014. Within a year of launching this boat from its harbor, ideas for a clothing brand materialized and this was realized in the fall of 2015. Their maiden collection was named ‘Binti’ and ‘Boss’; beautiful African names that adequately matched the ritzy handiwork of this new brand.
Her resilience and dedication to what she enjoys doing saw that she attracted wide recognition and accolade for her accomplishments. In 2015, she was named the emerging men’s wear designer of the year at the Jumia Glamour Awards.
In addition to this unseconded honor, she has enjoyed the luxury of dressing key personalities within media and business circles. These include: NTV’s affable Larry Madowo, African entrepreneur and CEO of Shades systems EA. Ltd. Eric Kinoti and KTN’s presenter Jamal Gaddafi, among others.
When playfully pressed for an intimate confession on her brilliant brainchild, this is what she had to say, “I use my artwork to tell stories. The African story can never be told enough.”
